Accessibility statement
Last Updated: 5 November 2026
1. Having trouble using this site?
If you experience difficulty accessing any part of this website, or you need information in a different format, email us at [email protected]. We aim to reply within two weeks, and usually much sooner.
To help us resolve the issue, please include the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and the device or assistive technology you were using.
2. Our commitment
Make it with JAM is a technology company working with businesses and organisations across Australia. We want as many people as possible to be able to use our website comfortably and confidently. That starts with the basics: content that is clearly presented, well structured, free of clutter and written in plain English.
We test this site against the international accessibility standard, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, at Level AA, and we list anything that falls short under Known limitations below.
Accessibility is something we care about in every website we create, and we want our own site to reflect that. A good website should work for every visitor, whatever device, connection or assistive technology they use.
3. What this statement covers
This statement applies to makeitwithjam.com. It does not cover the websites we build for clients, or the third-party services linked from this site, which are described under Technical information below.
4. What you should be able to do on this site
- Navigate the entire site using only a keyboard. Your current position is always visibly highlighted, and the first thing you reach on every page is a link that skips straight to the main content.
- Zoom in up to 300% without text running off the screen or losing content.
- Resize text or switch to your own fonts using your browser settings.
- Use the site with a screen reader. Every page has a single main heading, landmarks for navigation, main content and footer, and descriptive text for meaningful images.
- Navigate using speech recognition software. Every control is a standard link or button with a visible label.
- Turn on ‘reduce motion’ on your device to stop animations, including the scrolling heading on our home page.
5. Known limitations
We aim to be transparent about where the site does not yet fully meet our standards. We are currently aware of the following:
- Our brand orange on our mint background measures 2.99:1, a fraction under the 3:1 contrast minimum that WCAG sets for large text. We use this combination only for headings and large text, never for body copy. It is a deliberate brand choice that we will revisit at our next brand review. If you find it hard to read, your browser’s reader view or a high-contrast mode will restyle the headings.
- The scrolling heading on our home page cannot be paused. Turning on ‘reduce motion’ on your device stops it, and screen readers are given the same text as an ordinary heading. We plan to add a pause control.
Items are removed from this list once they have been fixed.
6. How we test and keep this statement current
Every page of this site is tested with automated accessibility tools (Lighthouse and axe), followed by manual checks of keyboard navigation, focus visibility, zoom and reflow, reduced motion, and the information exposed to screen readers. Automated tools identify only a portion of accessibility issues, so manual testing forms a core part of our process.
We re-test and update this statement whenever we change the site in a way that affects accessibility, and we review it in full every six months. The site was last tested on 5 November 2026.
7. Technical information
Conformance status: This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partial conformance means some content does not yet fully meet the standard. These areas are listed under Known limitations.
Technology: The site is custom-coded with Next.js and React, and published as static HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Third-party content: Our contact and newsletter forms are hosted by MailerLite, and consultations are booked through Google Calendar’s appointment scheduling. We select these services carefully, but cannot always control their accessibility. If third-party content prevents you from accessing information, email us and we will provide an alternative.
8. Accessibility in our client work
Every website we build and manage is designed to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. If you would like to understand how accessible your current website is, get in touch.
